Fiona Stevens appointed Executive Director of Basel Sinfonietta
As of 1 July 2025, Fiona Stevens will assume the role of Executive Director of Basel Sinfonietta. With her, we gain an internationally experienced cultural manager, musicologist, and violinist who combines artistic excellence with strategic thinking and a strong commitment to social engagement. Her interdisciplinary perspective and dedication to innovative, socially relevant cultural work make her the ideal choice for our artistically and socially ambitious direction.

At the same time, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Daniela Martin for her dedicated leadership over the past years. She guided us through challenging times and provided important impetus along the way.
With Fiona Stevens, we continue our path as an orchestra for music at the pulse of time. The 2025/26 season opens on 28 September with Rausch / Pilze, featuring the world premiere of Eleusis by Stefan Wirth. On 29 March 2026, Identität / Dialog explores Jewish and Persian musical cultures, including the world premiere of Ungezähmter Fluss by Amen Feizabadi. The season concludes on 31 May with Groove / Harmonie, featuring the posthumous world premiere of Morton Feldman’s Dirge. In Memory of Thomas Wolfe and Earle Brown’s miniature The Kind of Bird I Am.
