Titus Engel awarded the Swiss Music Prize 2025

The Basel Sinfonietta is delighted to congratulate its Principal Conductor, Titus Engel, on receiving the Swiss Music Prize 2025. He is one of eleven laureates honoured by the Swiss Federal Office of Culture for their outstanding musical achievements.

The jury praised Titus Engel as a “visionary conductor who builds bridges between tradition and the avant-garde. With his dedication to music and his precise, sensitive, and energetic conducting, he captivates both musicians and audiences alike.”

The official award ceremony will take place on 11 September 2025 in the Luzerner Saal at the KKL Lucerne.

Our close and fruitful collaboration with Titus Engel spans many years. In the recently concluded 2024/25 season, we celebrated shared successes, including a widely acclaimed guest performance at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and “Der 7. Himmel – ein Fussballoratorium für Basel” by Moritz Eggert, staged in cooperation with Theater Basel.
