Dieter Ammann's art is reminiscent of a mountaineer in search of extremes. From the meticulous, nightly process of notating music with pencil and eraser to the tempestuous performance of his works in the concert hall – his path is a great adventure. His works – complex scores with a rich inner life – practically burst with pulsating energy and sonic imagination, conveying a truly physical listening experience, very rare in contemporary music.
To mark his 60th birthday, the Basel Sinfonietta honors this Swiss composer with a concert evening dedicated to his meticulously notated music, which moves in a field of tension between the highest differentiation and raw vitality.
In addition, Dieter Ammann's importance as a composition teacher is honored with the world premieres of two orchestral pieces by his students Aregnaz Martorsyan and Alsu Nigmatullina.
Talk with Dieter Ammann and pre-concert at 6 p.m.: with students of the FHNW University of Music
In cooperation with the FHNW Academy of Music / Basel Academy of Music
World premiere.
